Employee Feedback Statistics
We gathered feedback about… feedback
They say ‘money makes the world go round’, but after these survey results we’re thinking maybe it’s feedback. After all, without feedback, projects can’t progress to the next stage, innovation comes to halt, and we would all struggle to improve. To discover how people feel about feedback in the workplace, we surveyed 220 people (in full-time employment) in October 2024. Here’s what we discovered…

Regular feedback is important to pretty much everyone.
97% of people agree that regular feedback is important.
And it’s a good job, because most people receive feedback daily or weekly.
76% of people receive feedback either daily or weekly. 17% receive feedback monthly and 6% receive feedback rarely. Less than 1% of people said they never get any feedback at work.
Feedback is collected in a variety of ways…
75% of feedback is delivered in meetings. Other popular ways to collect feedback include: project management software (45%), surveys (41%) and appraisals (40%). Less popular feedback methods are emails (30%), informal conversations (28%), live collaboration tools (19%), and asynchronous tools (10%).
…and people are largely happy with these.
Meetings (45%), project management software (13%), and surveys (14%) top the chart again when it comes to most preferred methods.
Less preferred methods of receiving feedback include emails (10%), appraisals (8%), informal conversations (7%), live collaboration tools (3%), and asynchronous communication tools (0%).
In fact, people are happy about feedback in general.
70% of people would rate the overall effectiveness of feedback processes at their workplace as effective or extremely effective.
83% of people agree that the overall feedback culture in their team or organisation is positive or very positive.
And, when it comes to providing feedback to others, most people (65%) feel very comfortable doing this.
The feedback for managers is clear: you’re doing a great job!
89% said managers ask them for updates on their work.
85% feel like their manager knows what they are doing on a day-to-day basis.
And 65% agree that their manager is very responsive to the feedback they provide, with less than 4% saying their manager was unresponsive to feedback.
There are a couple of outliers to mention…
64% of people want more feedback, 29% are happy as they are, and 7% want less feedback.
64% of people have to always or often chase people at their organisation for feedback. 20% said they sometimes have to chase, and only 16% said they rarely or never chase for feedback.
…but generally, all types of feedback are welcomed.
86% of people would consider leaving a job if they were unhappy with the level of feedback.
Our analysis…
It’s slightly confusing that people want more feedback and that they have to chase for it often, despite most people saying they receive feedback daily or weekly and are happy with the feedback processes within their organisation.
