Filming of new Sony TV advert

The Toryglen area of Glasgow is not somewhere you'd normally expect to find a major UK production team filming a much-anticipated TV advert for one of the globe's largest corporations, but in the weeks leading up to 25th July this year that's exactly what you'd find.

The Toryglen area of Glasgow is not somewhere you’d normally expect to find a major UK production team filming a much-anticipated TV advert for one of the globe’s largest corporations, but in the weeks leading up to 25th July this year that’s exactly what you’d find.

Sony chose a tower block earmarked for demolition as the scene for the follow-up to their award winning Balls advert. The building was festooned with over 350 paint bombs filled with 70,000 litres of multi-coloured paint, to be detonated in sequence and splattering the exterior of the building with a brand new rainbow paint scheme!

Obviously with this much wanton destruction taking place, the rest of the development had to be protected from flying debris and thousands of gallons of paint descending from high above.

The producers called upon AAASK to provide covers and debris nets to cover over 70 houses in two blocks, and in a hurry too…

AAASK supplied over 2200m2 of debris netting to cover the building facades and almost 2500m2 of PVC to cover the roofs and gable ends. Installation was carried out in just a day by contractors and in plenty of time for the spectacular climax to the months of hard work and preparation by the production team at MTP and Sony.
