The original business was called The Waterproofing Company based in Fereneze Works Barrhead and was bought by Thomas Thomson in 1876 from the then owners Thomas McIlwraith & Co.There had been a mill presence on the levern burn at the fereneze site for over 200 years prior to that involved in the cotton industry.
The business was just as innovative back then mainly making specialist proofings and coatings for Jute, Flax and cotton, making canvas and Jute Tarpaulins and roofing felt but diversified into wall decorative panels, sticky plasters, fibre glass products, industrial property development, and self storage, the other product lines were eventually sold off and just the core textiles fabrication business remained and diversified into the range of high performance pitch protection, pitch displays, banners and flags We are still producing tarpaulins and roofing membranes for modern modular buildings, nets and straps for load restraint.
Our flagship Training Domes offer air conditioned sports training indoors on real turf for hot climates to keep cool and for cold climates to keep warm and ground frost free, these have been used by some of the biggest names in sport such as Manchester City FC, Aston Villa FC, Sunderland FC, Celtic FC, to name but a few. Our unrivalled experience in pitch displays due to our multifaceted expertise in Digital Printing, Appliqué’ and Signwriting, we can use a combination of all three to arrive at the best quality and cost alternative for our clients, winning some of the biggest events in sport in the last decade, such as RWC 1999, Commonwealth Games 2002, Champions League Cup Finals, Eufa Cup finals, Super Cup, Heiniken Cup Final, FA Cup Final in recent years.
